A few years ago I had lost 20 pounds just by doing the basic concept “eat less move more” and over time had gained about 10 pounds back. When Paula started having a 6 am class 3 days a week, that class fit into my schedule and I decided to sign up, and have been hooked ever since.

I really look forward to going and I try to make it to 5 classes a week now. I like the crossfit concept of always having different workouts so you never get bored. I enjoy lifitng weights (much better than cardio) and my strength has definetly increased over the past 5 months. The class environment pushes you to keep going. I have thought in the middle of a workout (one involving about a million thrusters) – “This is when I would quit if I was doing this on my own.” But seeing others who keep going and with the coach pushing me I finish, and I am (usually) glad I did.

I also changed my diet to cut out grains and sugar, and I avoid proccesed foods. So now I really only go to the meat, dairy (cheese would be way harder to give up than bread) and produce sections at the grocery store, and read a lot of labels. I still occasionally have sweets, a beer or some or bread but try to have really small portion if I do. People don’t believe that I’ve only lost 10 pounds over the past few months, thinking that it is more, but the improvements in my body composition have really changed my overall appearance. I feel great and I am more confidant and comfortable in my own skin.
