Nutrition

The foundation for health, fitness and performance begins with sound nutritional practices.  If you have ever struggled with fat loss, unexplained health issues or sub par performance in life and sport it is most likely your diet.  Lots of factors and life circumstances play into our moods and energy levels; but one thing we have control over is what type of fuel we put into our bodies.

This infomation is covered in detail in Private & Foundation Training sessions and in general in all Group Classes. There will be required reading and homework. For those that need more guidance or help we have. . .

The CF prescription for nutrition is as follows: eat meat, fish, fowl, vegetables, some fruit, little starch and no sugar.  It doesn’t get any simpler than this.  We’ve taken it one step further. . .

Primal Feasting

Crossfit Jaguars’ Primal Feasting is a unique combination of Paleo nutrition and the Weston A Price Foundation’s principles of healthy and traditional diets.

In general, follow these principles for optimal health and fitness:

What to Eat:

Meat, Fish & Fowl
In order to get enough protein you should eat animal foods at almost every meal.  Many different kinds will work.  Here are some guidelines:

-Grass fed beef
-USDA certified organic meat
-Free range fowl
-Wild fish and shellfish
-Locally raised animals

Vegetables
Non starchy vegetables should be a big part of each meal.  Virtually all vegetables offer excellent nutritional value.  Fresh or frozen.

-Choose organic, locally grown vegetables that are in season
-If your goal is to lose body fat starchy vegetables such as potatoes, yams and sweet portatoes should be avoided

Some Fruit
A Primal Feasting diet encourages fruit in moderate consumption.   Less than moderate consumption if your goal is fat loss

-Choose organic, locally grown fruits that are in season and avoid fruit from far away
-Avoid GMO (genetically modified organism) fruit.  Period

Nuts and Seeds
Nuts are an extremely nutritious food if properly prepared.  Nuts are easier to digest, and their nutrients more readily available, if they are first soaked in salt water overnight, and dried in a warm oven or dehydrator.

Fats
Fat is good for you.  Fat is essential to your well being and happiness.  Fat is a great source of energy.  However. . . there are many bad fats in our food suppply.  Choose from:

-Chicken, duck, goose, lamb, beef and pork fat from pasture raised animals
-Butter from grass fed cows
-Coconut oil
-Olive oil

Dairy
Raw dairy only is allowed in Primal Feasting.

What Not To Eat:

No Sugar

No Grains/Flour/Cereals

No Legumes

No Processed/Fast Food–make it yourself!

No Artificial Sweeteners: Creepy laboratory products with sketchy saftey records.

No Pasteurized Dairy
